I go where instinct takes me

While out wandering in the forest, seeking untrodden ground, I stopped in the middle of the heathers. Surrounded by thick murky green, overgrown with shrubs, not a sole in sight, I stood and pondered for a moment. The fresh air brushed over my face. Uneven ground surrounded me, like a minefield, you spend just as much time looking at your footing as you did the surrounding. So I stopped for a while and studied the line of trees in the distance, their rich sage tone against the closer pickle shades. I listened to the birds and took in the expanse of open ground. Speckles of purple where beginning to emerge as the heather was reaching the spring months. Even thought the air was getting warmer, the wind still carried a chill with rising speeds. I watched the clouds glide by overhead, moving at such a speed. It was then I started writing, saying my thoughts aloud to produce a poem. Writing has become a more significant element of my practice. It allows me to convey my thinking and perceptions more successfully than video. Video is still part of my practice but i see it more as workings-out, a sketch, something to aid in the process.

With the aim of getting of lost,

Take in all your surroundings,

As you stride heel to toe,
