Step 1

Firstly, lightly draw the outline of the balloon dog (you can use my template if you need to). Ensure you do this lightly so that you can’t see the pencil marks when you come to colour it in.

Step 2

Now mark out where the highlights are (where the sun hits the balloon), and where the darkest sections are.

Remember to exaggerate the light and dark sections to help make the balloon dog look 3D and shiny!

Step 3

Start with the lightest sections first and colour/ shade the dog, doing the black last. For the best result, colour lightly and build up the pressure of the pencil, also colour in a circular motion to avoid your lines all being in one direction.
